Please note that the PB is still in development, and a comprehensive analysis will be provided in the future.

We used three datasets: T1-MRI mapping and fMRI mapping for three subjects— one with Alzheimer’s Disease (AD), one with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), and one Normal Control Subject (NCS). Since we focused on fMRI mapping, our analysis only considers short-range connectivity between neurons while excluding long connectivity and high-frequency neural activities.

In the initial stage, we constructed the PB’s structure based on T1-weighted mapping. Subsequently, we utilized fMRI mapping to obtain short-range functional connectivity within the PB.

For our analysis, we conducted in vivo simulations by briefly stimulating the cingulate gyrus in PB while keeping the rest of the brain silent. We recorded the response to observe how functional activity spreads across the brain in the following moments. The figure below illustrates the average functional activity in PB during this test. The figure displays a horizontal slice of PB, and you can select different slices using the slide bar at the bottom.

powered by Advanced iFrame

To deepen our understanding, we calculated the response of different parts of PB to cingulate gyrus stimulation.
